Our Mission is to feed, clothe, empower, and advocate for families in need in our community, demonstrating to them the love of God.
Our Mission simply defined is; to fulfill the plans that God has laid out for us in Psalm 82:3-4; “Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.”
For many single parents that are working, childcare and housing costs leave little money for food, healthcare, and other vital needs. Housing costs result in the poor having to pay greater portions of their income for substandard housing.
Shepherds Heart Food Pantry began serving families in need in June, 2010. We exist to meet poverty and hunger head on and overcome it. Today it is one of the largest Food Pantries in Central Texas serving thousands of families to protect their children from being without food.
Hunger is often invisible, yet it exists among us. As a community, we must address the root causes: lack of opportunity, inadequate education, lack of job training and poverty itself are obstacles we aid in overcoming. Our efforts are to feed the hungry now and find solutions for those whom we assist, that they may overcome the grip of poverty.
In 2018 we assisted 29,614 families with 2 million lbs. of food.
Our Empowerment Programs are not just feel good, information gathering meetings. Our focus is to provide people real and practical steps out of poverty. We are making progress but there is a long way to go for the impact we are working to achieve.
Our resale store, Things from the Heart, helps many families in the community. In 2018 we assisted 470 families with clothing and household items. The store also provides income to the pantry, to buy food.
Each year out Toys from the Heart program provides Christmas to over 500 children that are “homeless”.
Without your help, there would be serious problems with thousands of people that would not just be hungry, there would be serious health problems associated with their situations.
Your donations give hope and new life to those who receive help and training through this ministry.
Pro 19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward him for what he has done.
